Chief Executive Officer
Lily Sarafan is Chief Executive Officer of Home Care Assistance. Under Lily‘s leadership for more than a decade, Home Care Assistance has grown from startup to industry champion and today employs thousands of team members across more than 150 markets. The company is consistently recognized as an employer of choice and best-in-class consumer service, and Lily as a featured expert on digital health and innovation in aging at the White House and global conferences. For her role at the helm of Home Care Assistance, Lily has been honored as Women Health Care Executives 2016 Woman of the Year and Ernst and Young‘s 2016 Entrepreneur of the Year. She holds M.S. and B.S. degrees from Stanford University.
Ty Shay is President of Home Care Assistance. In his role, Ty drives the growth of the company by overseeing product, analytics, client experience, sales and marketing. Ty was most recently Global Chief Marketing Officer for Lifelock at Symantec, a $15B public company with a mission to keep the world’s information safe. Prior to his tenure at Symantec and Lifelock, Ty held executive roles at Squaretrade, Hotwire and Esurance. In all of his roles, Ty elevated consumer experience and brand, accelerated growth across revenue channels, and instituted sophisticated reporting and analytics to improve business operations. Ty earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois and an MBA from Stanford.
Chief Operating Officer
Chen Xie is Chief Operating Officer of Home Care Assistance. In his role, he oversees the company's operations teams, who are responsible for providing high quality care to each of our clients. Prior to joining Home Care Assistance, Chen worked at McKinsey & Company where he focused on the healthcare industry. Chen received his B.S. in economics and psychology with high honors from Harvard University.
Chief Financial Officer
Mike Schantz, CPA, is Chief Financial Officer of Home Care Assistance. In his role, Mike is responsible for tracking cash flow, financial planning and analyzing the company’s financial strengths in weaknesses to ensure they meet their goals. He brings a wealth of experience and ideas from his nearly 30 years in finance. Prior to joining Home Care Assistance, Mike was the Global CFO for Jenny Craig and Curves. Before joining Jenny Craig, Mr. Schantz served as CFO for the National Dentex Corporation, a large dental laboratory manufacturing and technology company. Prior to these roles, he drove remarkable results for TUI Marine, The Moorings and Planet Hollywood International. Mike received his B.A. in accounting from Virginia Tech and his MBA from William & Mary Mason School of Business.
Chief Development Officer
Matt Neal is Chief Development Officer for Home Care Assistance. In this role, Matt leads the company's expansion efforts in new markets as well as develops strategic partnerships with leading home care provider and payer partners, including senior housing companies, health systems and post acute care. Prior to joining Home Care Assistance, Matt served as VP for Vantage Oncology at McKesson. With experience ranging from business plan development for new ventures to launching joint ventures with large health systems to crafting turnaround strategies for Fortune 100 companies, Matt has a passion for business development, corporate strategy and healthcare innovation. Matt received his B.A. in political science and accounting from the University of California, Los Angeles and his MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
Chief Experience Officer
Mike Hargis is Chief Experience Officer and is a Senior Sales and Operations Executive with 20+ years experience. His leadership roles have included building and leading global sales, service and "success" organizations during hyper growth. These include Symantec, LifeLock, CareerBuilder.com, Headhunter.net, and two divisions of General Electric. Mike has an MBA from Northwestern University, Kellogg School of Management. In his spare time, Mike hangs out with his two teenage sons and enjoys playing golf and checking out the food scene with his wife, Kelly!
General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer
Nina Kani is General Counsel at Home Care Assistance. In her role, Nina is responsible for managing all legal matters for the company, including strategic, transactional, regulatory, employment and commercial matters. Nina started her legal career with the law firm of O`Melveny & Myers LLP, specializing in complex civil defense litigation and compliance matters, with an emphasis in labor and employment. She continued her legal work at Foley & Lardner LLP until launching her own practice. Nina earned her B.A. degrees, summa cum laude, in political science and international global peace and conflict studies from the University of California, Irvine and her J.D., cum laude, from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law.
VP of Business Development
Ashley Mirone is Vice President of Business Development at Home Care Assistance. In her role, Ashley has built the sales team across the organization, currently overseeing 40 Home Care Liaisons. She is focused on increasing revenues, building strategic partnerships and creating winning teams that do well by doing good. Throughout her career at Home Care Assistance, Ashley has earned a reputation for establishing and tapping into professional networks of business and entrepreneurial leaders to bring about breakthrough innovations, speed time to market and improve organizational outcomes. In addition to Ashley‘s expertise on senior resources, she is also a Certified Senior Advisor. Ashley has extensive knowledge about aging and the importance of health, social and financial issues that affect the majority of seniors.
VP of Marketing and Product Experience
Greg is VP of Marketing and Product Experience at Home Care Assistance. In this role, he drives the company's effort to understand the needs of aging adults and develop the best products and services to meet those needs. He also oversees the marketing team, helping to build awareness around company's promise of quality and caring service for our clients. Greg has extensive experience building category-leading services in healthcare and other consumer-focused categories. He has led product and marketing for leading products at BabyCenter.com, CareDox, Education.com and LifeLock, among others. Greg is driven to understand unmet consumer needs and build products that improve lives. Greg received his MBA from the Thunderbird School of Global Management and taught Marketing Strategy at the Stern School of Business at NYU.
VP of Data, Reporting & Analytics
Rebecca Howe is VP of Data, Reporting & Analytics for Home Care Assistance. In her role, Rebecca provides data-driven insights and makes decisions through best-in-class reporting and actionable analytics. Most recently, Rebecca led Global Acquisition Analytics for the consumer brands of LifeLock, Norton and SurfEasy at Symantec. Prior to her tenure at Symantec, Rebecca worked with both start-up seeking funding and Fortune 100 brands helping to drive growth. Rebecca focuses on building teams made of strategic partners that understand the key pain points of their business partners and then aligns data, reporting and analytics to drive organizational decisions. Rebecca earned a bachelor’s degree from Westminster College and a MBA from University of Oxford.
VP of Franchise Operations
Barbara Schuh is Vice President of Franchise Operations for Home Care Assistance. Barbara joined Home Care Assistance in 2011 and oversees every aspect of franchise operations from sales and marketing to employee and client care to ensure that all locations achieve operational excellence. Barbara has over 20 years of home care operations and management experience, having owned, operated and sold a multi-million dollar home care agency. A well-known geriatric care management and senior care expert, Barbara is a member of the Aging Life Care Association. Barbara holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in psychology, and was honored as Humanitarian of the Year by the John Muir Foundation.
VP of Finance
Yarona Marks is Vice President of Finance for Home Care Assistance. In role, Yarona has streamlined accounting and financial procedures by implementing new accounting software, increased efficiency of the company-wide payroll process, created a financial reporting structure, developed effective strategies to influence and help her team accomplish their goals to maintain accurate accounts (cash, prepaid, fixed assets, accounts payable, accrued expenses, accrued liabilities and line of credit transactions) and negotiates vendor contracts to achieve maximum savings for the organization. Yarona's broad financial experience in multinational corporate environments has contributed to the financial success of Home Care Assistance. Yarona is a CPA and holds a B.S. in accounting from UH.
Director of Technology
Elisabeth Safari serves as Director of Technology of Home Care Assistance. In her role, she is responsible for developing HCA’s Big Data and Analytics Platform. Elisabeth also leads the software product development efforts at Home Care Assistance, committed to placing HCA as a technology innovator in the home-care space. She considers herself a passionate engineer and computer scientist with prior experience in Silicon Valley companies and start-ups. She has several publications in the field of AI and MI. She is a previous Toastmaster graduate and enjoys reading philosophy and running outdoors, whenever there’s a spare moment. Elisabeth has a MSc degree in Computer Science and a PhD degree in Medical Informatics (MI), both from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. In 2001 and 2002, she was a visiting researcher at the Medical Informatics group at Stanford University School of Medicine and a Fulbright Scholar.
Chief of Staff
Megan Heinen is Chief of Staff and Director of Communications for Home Care Assistance. In her role, she ensures the company and key executives stay focused on top priorities and the core mission. With a special focus on internal communications and culture, Megan is responsible for building and maintaining the company’s connective tissue. Prior to becoming Chief of Staff, Megan served as Director of Marketing and Communications at HCA. She led the marketing efforts since 2011 and helped the company grow over 30% each year. Megan is very active in supporting innovation in the greater longevity market and acted as a judge for the Stanford Center on Longevity Design Challenge and a panelist at the 2017 Silicon Valley Boomer Venture Summit. Megan holds a B.A. in Urban Studies from Stanford University and is passionate about building effective, supportive communities for all people, but especially our growing senior population.
