Home Care Assistance Pilots First Cognitive Health Program with University of Southern California to Enhance Quality of Life in Geriatric Patient Community

New partnership will work to improve brain health in geropsychiatric care patients at the University of Southern California’s Verdugo Hills Hospital

(Los Angeles, CA – February 27, 2018) -- Geriatric patients at University of Southern California Verdugo Hills Hospital will now receive tailored cognitive care thanks to a new partnership with Home Care Assistance, North America’s leading provider of in-home care for seniors. Verdugo Hills Hospital will now incorporate Home Care Assistance’s proprietary program, The Cognitive Therapeutics Method™, with the one-on-one care they provide to its patients. “We are always looking for new ways to improve the health of our patients,” says Luke Jackson, Director of Geriatric Psychiatry at USC Verdugo Hills Hospital (USC-VHH). “Adding this component of cognitive stimulation to our patient care plans will allow us to give each client the individual attention they need and cater to all aspects of their well-being.” The Cognitive Therapeutics Method seeks to improve well-being through personalized, one-on-one activities that engage the main cognitive domains of the brain. The program is based on scientific research pointing to non-pharmacological activity and lifestyle intervention as an effective way to promote long-term brain health. Its activities target memory and engage other cognitive functions including the executive functioning, attention, language, and visual-spatial domains. The pilot program consists of training sessions for staff at USC-VHH, including the Program Director of Geriatric Psychiatry, Nursing Manager, Certified Nursing Assistants and Registered Nurses, so that they can implement the program with their patients, as well as tailored assessments to track their patients’ progress. The partnership is part of Home Care Assistance’s effort to improve quality of life and overall brain health for aging seniors, marking the first time the company has licensed their Cognitive Therapeutics Method program to another organization. Through this partnership, the company’s proprietary cognitive exercises will now be available to patients during their stay at the hospital. “We’ve always admired the high-touch, personalized care that USC-VHH offers its patients and are excited to partner with one of the country’s leading medical institutions,” says Sasha Inobe, Head of Cognitive Therapeutics Method at Home Care Assistance. “From the very start, our goal with this program has been to improve the quality of life of those affected by cognitive impairment by engaging patients with personalized one-on-one activities. We look forward to collaborating with Verdugo Hills as part of our mission to change the way the world ages.” To find a caregiver trained in The Cognitive Therapeutics Method™, please visit: To discuss partnership opportunities, please contact Ashley Mirone at To learn more about USC Verdugo Hills Hospital, go to: About Home Care Assistance Home Care Assistance is the leading provider of in-home care for seniors serving the United States, Canada and Australia.
