, we have created a heart-healthy recipe in line with our Balanced Care Method™

This recipe for Berry Crumble à la Mode is both delicious and nutritious, containing berries and oats. Berries are high in antioxidants, polyphenols, anthocyanins and fiber which are beneficial to heart health. Research has shown that berries can increase good cholesterol and lower blood pressure. Oats are also among the top 10 heart-healthy foods and contain fiber to help reduce bad cholesterol.

Berry Crumble à la Mode
3 cups blueberries
2 cups blackberries
1 cup raspberries
2 tbsp. brown sugar
1 tbsp. all-purpose flour
1 tbsp. lemon juice
2/3 cup all-purpose flour
½ cup packed brown sugar
½ cup regular oats
¾ tsp ground cinnamon
4 ½ tbsp. almond butter (healthier alternative to butter or margarine)
2 cups vanilla low-fat frozen yogurt
- Preheat the oven to 375°
- Combine the berries with 2 tbsp. of brown sugar, lemon juice and 1 tbsp. of flour in a medium mixing bowl. Distribute mixture among six individual ramekins.
- Combine the rest of the flour with the brown sugar, oats, cinnamon and butter until the mixture resembles coarse meal. Sprinkle this mixture over the berry mixture in the ramekins.
- Bake for 30 minutes or until bubbly. When ready, carefully remove from the oven and top with frozen yogurt. Yum!
