Home Care Assistance owner is eager to be a part of building a hospice for the homeless of the greater Sacramento area
(Sacramento, CA – June 16, 2017) – Home Care Assistance Sacramento, the premier home care provider, is pleased to announce that Kathy Herrfeldt, owner of Home Care Assistance Sacramento, has been asked to join the board of the Health Communication Research Institute. A non-profit, founded in 1989, the organization aims to reduce health disparities and improve communication between doctors and patients. In 2015, the organization chose to focus their efforts on addressing the homeless population in the greater Sacramento area. Currently, the Health Communication Research Institute is raising money to build a hospice house called Joshua’s House for the Sacramento homeless population.
“I am honored to be a part of the Joshua’s House project and I am looking forward to sharing my knowledge and expertise in contributing to such a positive cause,” said Kathy Herrfeldt, owner of Home Care Assistance Sacramento.
Throughout the United States, homeless populations have continued to expand. The Health Communication Research Institute has identified that homeless populations are the most underserved populations in the United States. As a result, the homeless experience untreated chronic diseases and have limited access to preventative and palliative care. The homeless are dying at younger ages and higher rates. The Health Communication Research Institute thrives to create healthier living among homeless populations.
