Home Care Assistance Meets and Exceeds California’s New Home Care Requirements
In-home care industry leader, Home Care Assistance, goes above and beyond new home care legislation standards that have been in effect since January 1st, 2016
(Palo Alto, CA – February 16, 2016) Home Care Assistance, a leading provider of in-home care, recently announced the company’s compliance with California’s new requirements for home care agencies. As of January 1st, 2016, California has implemented stricter standards for home care aides and requires that all home care agencies be licensed; Home Care Assistance planned in advance knowing these requirements were coming and will continue operating in complete compliance without disrupting client services in any of its 25 locations throughout California. Under the new requirements, home care aides must now be screened and insured, registered with the state’s newly created Home Care Services Bureau, undergo 5-10 hours of mandatory training annually and also pass more thorough background checks through the California Department of Justice and FBI.
Home Care Assistance is not only licensed, but proud to announce that the company has already been abiding by the new legislation for hundreds, and soon thousands, of their employees. Home Care Assistance hires only the most qualified and compassionate individuals as caregivers to serve the evolving needs of the company’s clientele and accepts approximately one out of 25 caregiver applicants. Applicants undergo a thorough screening process including national background checks, references and proper work authorization. A proprietary Caregiver Personality assessment, developed by a Ph.D. psychologist, screens applicants for traits such as kindness, honesty, compassion and conscientiousness. Seniors and their loved ones can rest assured knowing that they are receiving high-quality care from the industry’s top professional, compassionate caregivers.
“Enacting stricter regulations is improving the standard of care throughout our industry and we will continue to support any new regulation that elevates this,” said Isabelle La, Head of Internal Operations. “Home Care Assistance has always stayed ahead of the curve in California, having performed Department of Justice background checks, Motor Vehicle Record and reference checks, psychological screenings and trainings from our exclusive Home Care Assistance University program. We are glad the state is now regulating and enforcing similar standards across other agencies in the industry to ensure the safety and well-being of older adults.”
Home Care Assistance caregivers are professionally trained on the company’s Balanced Care Method™, a holistic approach to healthy longevity based on scientific studies of the world’s healthiest seniors, and incorporate the Method into daily care to encourage healthy mind, body and spirit. Home Care Assistance is the only senior care solution with an emphasis on healthy longevity and quality of life. Caregivers also undergo continuous training on care for seniors through the company’s online platform, Home Care Assistance University.
