Home Care Assistance Douglas County and Legacy Hospice to Offer Workshop on New State Mandate for Reporting Elder Abuse and Neglect
The workshop will be presented by Marilyn Hammerschmidt, RN, BSN on Thursday, June 12th, from 4PM to 6PM at the Castle Rock Adventist Hospital
(Castle Rock, CO – June 12, 2014) Home Care Assistance Douglas County, a leading provider of in-home care for seniors, is dedicated to supporting and protecting elders. The State of Colorado has passed a new law that will go into effect on July 1, 2014 that mandates health, financial and other professional groups working with seniors to report signs of elder abuse, neglect and exploitation. Home Care Assistance Douglas County has teamed with Legacy Hospice to educate the community on the signs of elder abuse and on reporting information to authorities. The workshop will be presented by Marilyn Hammerschmidt, RN, BSN at Castle Rock Adventist Hospital from 4PM to 6PM on Thursday, June 12th.
“Interacting daily with the seniors in our community, I have seen and heard many stories of abuse and neglect,” said Jonathan Wells, Owner of Home Care Assistance Douglas County. “We strive to be a connection and a resource for older adults in our community. Those who do not report known abuse, neglect or exploitation will now be subject to stiff penalties.”
