Dayton Home Care Organizations Support The Longest Day as ‘Home Care Gives Back’
Home Care Assistance, Lavender Home Care, Visiting Angels, and Spring Hills Home Care are partnering together to participate in The Longest Day on June 21 to raise funds and awareness for care and support while advancing research toward the first survivor of Alzheimer’s.
(Dayton, Ohio – June 1, 2017) – Several home care organizations in the Dayton area have joined together to participate in The Longest Day on June 21st. Home Care Assistance of Dayton, Lavender Home Care, Visiting Angels and Spring Hills Home Care have teamed up as ‘Home Care Gives Back’ to raise funds and awareness together in support of the Alzheimer’s Association. The Longest Day is all about love. Love for those affected by Alzheimer’s disease. Individuals who join ‘Home Care Gives Back’ will wear purple on June 21st and help loved ones do what they love. Some will even share their experience by taking a selfie with their loved one and sharing it on social media. On the summer solstice, team up with ‘Home Care Gives Back’ and join in the effort to raise awareness around Alzheimer’s care and prevention.
“Home Care Assistance prides itself on being a positive contributor to the communities it serves with a focus on social responsibility and education around topics related to aging, wellness, and quality of life,” says Mark Febus, Owner of Home Care Assistance. “I am happy to be working together with the team from Lavender Home Care, Visiting Angels, and Spring Hills Home Care to fundraise together for a great cause.”

Worldwide there are currently 47.5 million people living with dementia and by 2050, this number is expected to triple. Alzheimer’s disease, the most common form of dementia, currently affects six million people in the United States and Canada. Currently there is no cure for the disease but treatments for symptoms and interventions to slow disease progression are available, improving quality of life for Alzheimer’s sufferers as well as their caregivers.
Money raised from The Longest Day will fund mission-related initiatives of care, support, and research for the Alzheimer’s Association. Designed not only as a fundraiser, The Longest Day also raises awareness around Alzheimer’s in the Dayton community and surrounding areas. The Miami Valley Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association will be promoting events during the month of June to provide information about Alzheimer’s disease, ways to support programs and services, as well as opportunities to get involved with the cause through advocacy initiatives and clinical trial enrollment.
