Mary works full-time and takes care of both her mother-in-law who has Alzheimer’s and her husband with COPD. She is tremendously grateful for the respite grant so that she can spend the weekend relaxing and sleeping past 5am.

Dedra has shown tremendous commitment as a caregiver to both her parents, one of which suffers from Alzheimer’s. She is deserving of two days of total peace of mind, not having to worry about her mother.

Lorraine has been caring for her aunt for over 10 years, showing amazing commitment. She deserves a break so she can visit her cousin who she hasn’t seen in years.
Rachel S., of Orange County
Rachel and her sister care for their mother, who was diagnosed with cancer, but also suffers from depression. She has been a source of physical - but especially - emotional support for her mother and deserves a break.
Veronica S., of Dallas
Veronica currently cares for her mom and her grandmother who both have Alzheimer’s. She left her marketing career in Chicago to move to Dallas to take care of both her mom and grandmother. She is very thankful for the Respite Grant and will use it for a spa retreat that has a pool or beach!

Lorna’s 77-year-old mother worked three jobs to take care of her children and make sure they were well provided for and she now makes it priority to take care of her. She is very thankful for the respite grant and will use it so that she and her husband can spend time walking on the beach, holding hands and being still with one another.
Home Care Assistance and Move for Minds are continuously selecting 60 family caregivers to receive a Respite Care Grant (an $18,000 value) across the country. Initial winners were announced in the eight participating cities on June 4th, but anyone can still apply for a Respite Care Grant.

Home Care Assistance joins Maria Shriver’s Move for Minds to raise awareness around Alzheimer’s disease in women.
Home Care Assistance, Maria Shriver and Equinox Sports Clubs joined forces to raise awareness and funds in support of the Women’s Alzheimer’s Movement through the annual Move for Minds™ event, which took place on June 4th, 2017 across eight U.S cities. Participants registered, raised funds and experienced a specially designed brain body workout, a vibrant market place with brain healthy snacks, and a panel conversation featuring superstars of brain research, fitness, nutrition, caregiving and more!
