Compassion. Dedication. Love. These are just a handful of the qualities that both family caregivers and professional caregivers possess. Caregivers are known for being kind, strong-hearted and giving by nature, which is exactly why we wanted to recognize their tireless dedication to serving others on June 20th, The Longest Day.
The Longest Day is the summer solstice, which marks the onset of summer, and it is also the day that the Alzheimer’s Association® recognizes the fact that for people living with Alzheimer’s disease and their caregivers, every day can be the longest day. On June 20th, they raise awareness around this challenging journey by encouraging teams to participate in an activity they love from sunrise to sunset and to raise funds for Alzheimer’s awareness.
In recognition of The Longest Day, Home Care Assistance has chosen to celebrate both family and professional caregivers. Home Care Assistance caregivers are often recognized with appreciation events and awards, so we tagged along with the Palo Alto home care team to celebrate our caregivers by surprising them with flowers, cake and more! Watch the video below, which captures these heartwarming moments and conveys the heart of our caregivers and care team.
At Home Care Assistance, we also recognize the difficult journey that family caregivers endure daily. There are currently 70 million Americans caring for an aging loved one, which represents 30% of the total population. We understand that it can be difficult to manage caregiving responsibilities with other personal and professional obligations, and we applaud the efforts of family caregivers in dedicating their time and energy to the betterment of their loved ones.
If you are caring for a loved one or know of someone who is a family caregiver, respite care can provide some much-needed time to relax and recharge.
