Home Care Assistance to Host Free Webinar on Estate Planning

Webinar on Estate Planning with Mark GilfixHome Care Assistance is excited to announce the next installment in our Healthy Longevity Webinar Series, “A Will is Not Enough: Everything You Need to Know About Estate Planning”, presented by Mark Gilfix, Attorney at Gilfix & La Poll Associates and co-author of Facing the Reality of Long-Term Care. This webinar will discuss the importance of creating a comprehensive estate plan and how to go about it.  It will be offered for free to the public as a part of Home Care Assistance’s broader mission to provide community support and education around topics related to aging.

Estate planning is the act of preparing for the transfer of a person’s wealth and assets after his or her death. Financial assets, life insurance, pensions, real estate, cars, personal belongings and debts are all components of an individual’s estate to be transferred. Estate planning can also encompass dealing with crises while one is alive and giving authority to trusted individuals to help if he or she cannot manage his or her own affairs. A comprehensive estate plan can also help minimize punishing taxes and protect assets so that one is prepared if and when long-term care is needed. Having a comprehensive estate plan in place for yourself or a loved one will also help ensure family members are protected.

On this webinar, attendees will learn:

  • Critical estate planning tools that every individual should use
    • The importance of each document and how they work
    • State and federal estate taxes
    • Long-term care issues and solutions
    • Next steps to prepare for one’s future and/or protect a loved one

Gilfix is passionate about helping people plan for a vibrant future. He practices in the areas of Estate Planning, Elder Law, and Special Needs Planning in Palo Alto, California. He is a graduate from Stanford University with a degree in Management Science and Engineering and later earned his law degree from Loyola Law School’s evening program while working full time.
