Preparing the Nation to Better Address the Challenge of Alzheimer’s Disease

-Dr.Kathy Johnson, PhD, CMC

I was happy to read that the Obama Administration is taking action to increase Alzheimer’s awareness. On World Alzheimer’s Day, leading Alzheimer’s disease advocates, researches, health and long-term care experts had a meeting to inform the Administration about the challenges and opportunities to strengthen the nation’s response to Alzheimer’s.  In the United States alone, 5 million people are living with Alzheimer’s – it is the seventh leading cause of death.

The World Alzheimer’s Report 2010 called upon the government to recognize Alzheimer’s as a priority and it’s great to see they are acting on this call to action. Click the following link for the full article and a video of the meeting.
