I read an unsettling article that suggests the link between type 2 diabetes and Alzheimer’s is becoming stronger. The article mentions that those with a higher fasting level of insulin have six times the odds of developing brain plaque deposits between nerves in the brain, which is associated with the Alzheimer’s disease.
This was a controlled study done in Japan where they accounted for all the different types of variables. There have been other studies conducted as well that link diabetes to Alzheimer’s, which also supports the claim the two are related.
Alzheimer’s isn’t preventable yet, but type 2 diabetes is. I encourage you to exercise regularly and eat healthy. Controlling diabetes is important because you don’t want it to be a contributing factor to Alzheimer’s.
