The month of December indicates the start of world AIDS month and as part of our social responsibility initiative we are committed to raising awareness for this important cause. AIDS awareness is a truly pertinent issue in that it has affected over one million Americans since the epidemic was first discovered.
While AIDS continues to affect many people throughout the world, there have been tireless efforts by countless scientists to try and combat the disease. For example, on November 30th a scientist at Scripps Research Institute was granted $3.4 million for research into a potential AIDS treatment. AIDS research is certainly of paramount importance to our country and the rest of the world, which is exemplified by the fact that president Barack Obama will speak at George Washington University on just that subject.
We hope to give people adequate education on this pandemic and provide a source of understanding for those afflicted by the disease. So as world AIDS month begins in December let us all remember how prevalent an issue this is throughout the world.
