Have you every pondered the idea that an unhealthy brain equals an unhealthy mind? Or vice-versa?
If your body suffers from a particular health condition such as diabetes, heart disease, depression, or anxiety, you may have a decreased life span. If you suffer from depression or anxiety, it can take a toll on your body by expressing itself in the forms of “stomach problems, headaches, backaches, sleeplessness, fatigue, weight loss, or obesity.”
The Huffington Post reported that, “each year about 25 percent of us have a diagnosable mental, or substance abuse disorder, or both. Yet only 40 percent of those of us who have such a disorder get treatment. That is because many of us either don’t know we have a mental disorder, or are too embarrassed to talk about it openly.”
It is important to stay mentally and physically healthy. If we don’t take care of our health, we may experience complications such as dementia, heart disease or diabetes later in life.
